Mr. Bacon (Jerry Turning, Jr.) is the creator of this page and wonderful Bacon and Juiceboxes Facebook<\/a> community.\u00a0 A self-described, introvert he regularly shares his thoughts and feelings through his writing.\u00a0 He is a retired Police Captain.\u00a0 He uses his 25 year expertise as a police officer to train first responders, search and rescue teams, school adminstrations and students on a variety of topics related to autism and policing.\u00a0 He has spoken in many venues, to groups large and small, regarding “Our Life with Autism” as well as about “Bridging the Gap” between the Police and individuals with Autism and other special needs.\u00a0 \u00a0If you are interested in having “Mr. Bacon” speak for your event, or write an article for your organization\/website\/publication, please contact via email<\/a>.\u00a0 Mr. Bacon is President of Blue Bridge Training<\/a>, and also published his debut novel in 2020, “Desperate Pursuits.”<\/a><\/p>\n

“Mrs. Bacon” (Jo-Ann) began as a “Guest” poster on this page and realized how therapeutic it could become.\u00a0 She has become a regular contributor to the page. As a mom who works full-time, raising 2 young adults – one who has autism – the days are filled with chaos, stress and lots of love.\u00a0 She is also President of Special Wants nonprofit organization.<\/a><\/p>\n

“Sister Bacon” (Anna) is a super sibling to her brother Eric.\u00a0 She is wise and compassionate beyond her years.\u00a0 In November 2015, she created the Special Wants: A Bacon and Juice Boxes Project<\/a> facebook page that connects families who have loved ones with special needs, with other families searching for discontinued, or hard to find items.\u00a0 It has become an amazing community.\"\"<\/p>\n

And the star of the show is: Eric.\u00a0 Now navigating his teenage years, he still surprises us daily.\u00a0 The days aren’t always easy.\u00a0 We try to remember the happy and survive the sad.\u00a0 \u00a0We are blessed with the greatest extended family on the planet.\u00a0 Without their help our family may have crumbled a long time ago.\u00a0 It definitely takes a village.<\/p>\n
